Death at my feet
I walked and noticed nothing
No change in my step
No hindrance to my footing
A life that exists apart from me
Growth occurring independently
Birth, re-birth, death
I am able to digest but a morsel
Not a grand feast may I enjoy
A great movement free of me
But I move in inches
My bite still bites
An infinite cycle containing time
A pure moth of white and black
Not a care of life or death
Or so it seems to me
I sit concerned inside
Turning over problems and fears like a rolodex
Looking for the next helper to call
Death is at my feet
Death is from my feet
My feet an unbeknownst murderer
A piece of time in that infinite cycle
Containing a creature coming to existence
And fluttering to its resting place
Destroyed without warning
Becoming a mark on a toe
Something to be cleaned up and thrown away
Life comes and life goes
I have no say
I have no control
There must be one concerned
For then death had no reason
Greater still a life
No change in my step
No hindrance to my footing
A life that exists apart from me
Growth occurring independently
Birth, re-birth, death
I am able to digest but a morsel
Not a grand feast may I enjoy
A great movement free of me
But I move in inches
My bite still bites
An infinite cycle containing time
A pure moth of white and black
Not a care of life or death
Or so it seems to me
I sit concerned inside
Turning over problems and fears like a rolodex
Looking for the next helper to call
Death is at my feet
Death is from my feet

A piece of time in that infinite cycle
Containing a creature coming to existence
